There’s nothing like backing into a metal pole and having to replace a crumpled fender to make you want to pull back on your candle spending.
But I’m no good at candle denial. And prices keep going crazy, even in this economy. The Reddit luxury candle community, (yes, that’s a thing) is full of good information when you want to spend less. And I am now indebted to it because its members steered me towards an excellent dupe for a favourite Diptyque limited edition candle, Papier.
The Bath and Bodyworks version, called (shudder) Book Loft is a pretty solid substitute, costs only $x (or two for $24) and the wax is a beautiful pale, Dior grey. Dior? Wait a minute…
Yup. If you put your book loft candle in the coldest part of your freezer for an hour you can then pop it out and it fits perfectly into an empty Dior candle vessel. So I went and bought two more.
